The
Future of
Stenton

A Living History, Expanded

History lives here.

Stenton is a nearly 300-year-old site in North Philadelphia where history is examined, not simply preserved. Used daily by students, neighbors, and educators, the house and grounds function as evidence for inquiry, dialogue, and learning in the present.

Our Programs

This campaign builds the space and access Stenton needs for what’s next.

Room to Learn

Stenton's first Education Center

At Stenton, students learn through a proven, inquiry-based approach. Demand is strong, but without a dedicated, climate-controlled space, programs remain seasonal and capacity limited.

New ADA accessible entrances to the visitor
reception area and education space.
Dedicated classroom space and expanded ADA compliant restrooms.
West elevation: new accessible entrance and expanded restrooms.
New collaborative workspace for staff and volunteers.

Use creates
responsibility.

At the edge of Germantown and Nicetown, Stenton offers rare, open green space—used daily for recreation and respite. That familiarity builds trust and shared ownership, sustained by access and design that support everyday use.

Room to Grow

Reopened southwest gate

ADA-accessible paths

Remove barriers so more people can participate fully in Stenton’s programs and public space.
